Southend United have shared a statement on behalf of Harry Lennon.
The defender was recorded on video with Dover players in a pub after last month’s FA Cup defeat to the Whites. The 24-year-old was wearing his Southend United tracksuit and has since been training with the club’s Under-23s.
Lennon’s statement begins:
Sometime prior to the FA Cup game at Dover Athletic on 10th November 2019, I had arranged to go out after the game with a group of long-standing friends including Jack Munns who played in the game for Dover.
Both Jack and I were wearing our respective Club tracksuits, having travelled straight from the game to a pub near to where I live in Essex.
Contrary to the views expressed on social media, I was not out with Dover fans and I was not celebrating the outcome of the game.
I was wearing my Southend United tracksuit and, with the benefit of hindsight, would have been best advised to have changed before going out for the evening.
