The Southern Football League have confirmed that they will not be running a supplementary cup competition ahead of next season.

Other divisions have announced plans to stage a tournament in April and May, but a statement from the Southern League today explains:

“Jason Mills, operations manager of the Pitching In Southern Football League, has received several queries from clubs about a possible cup competition being run by the league prior to the start of the 2021/22 season. It is understood it is something that has been shared/discussed at some length on social media.

“However, following a board discussion over the past couple of days on this matter, there will be NO cup competition organised by the league prior to the 2021/22 season. The League Cup competition is scheduled to return after the commencement of the 2021/22 season.

“Therefore, once clubs are able to resume playing matches, then friendlies can be arranged, ensuring that all Covid-19 requirements are adhered to that will no doubt be published in the coming weeks/months. If clubs wish to enter into any other cup competition, then this will require sanctioning by each relevant County FA.”
