Southport have signed Forest Green Rovers left-back Alex Whittle until the end of the season and 20-year-old centre-back Olly Marx from Wrexham.
Whittle re-joins for his second spell at Southport, after making 7 league appearances for the club in 2016. Beginning his career in the Liverpool youth system, he spent 12 years at Anfield before moving to Dunfermline in 2012, making 58 league appearances.
He had a brief spell at Fylde before joining Southport in March 2016. After leaving Southport, Whittle signed for York City where he made 59 appearances. Whittle joined Forest Green Rovers in the summer.
Marx broke into the Wrexham first team during the 2016/17 season, and signed his first pro-deal with the club in the summer. In November, he signed for Rushall Olympic on a month’s loan, putting in a number of impressive performances.
The transfer is subject to international clearance, and the young defender should be eligible for Saturday’s clash against York City in the Vanarama National League North.
