Torquay United have signed Dan Sparkes from league rivals Braintree Town.

The Iron signed Sparkes in June 2012 for an undisclosed fee on an initial two-year deal from Histon, where he had been captain.

The 24-year-old played forty times, scoring 6 goals for the Iron last season, helping them reach the play-off semi-finals.

Torquay player-manager Kevin Nicholson said: “Dan’s very hungry to prove himself in a full-time environment.

“He’s very quick and direct, plus his delivery into the box is very good.”
