Former Newcastle United and Gateshead midfielder Matty Pattison has become Tom Wade’s latest new addition at Blyth Spartans.
The South African international joins the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club after spending two years with Gateshead.
The twenty nine year old also spent time with Norwich City earlier in his career.
He becomes Spartans fourth new signing in the space of a week after manager Wade completed moves for defenders Gavin Caines (Rushall Olympic), Michael Liddle (Dunston UTS) and Richard Pell (Whitby Town).
And Wade couldn’t hide his delight at sealing the deal for Pattison.
Speaking to the club’s official website he said “This is a huge signing for this football club. Probably one of the biggest in a long time. Matty’s played at Championship level and is vastly experienced.
“He’s fast, powerful, fit and in his prime plus, being left-footed, he will bring more balance to our midfield . What’s more he’s a good lad. Everyone speaks very highly of him.
“I’m very grateful that the finances have been made available to bring in top-notch players like Matty. This had been made possible because of increased attendances so we have our fans, as well as the Board, to thank”
Pattison, capped five times by South Africa, spoke highly of his new club.
“I’m very happy to sign for Blyth. It’s a good set-up here and it’s perfect for me. I can’t wait to get started!”
