Spennymoor Town have announced the appointment of the club’s first ever Managing Director as it looks to continue its progression up the non-league pyramid.
Tony Wilson will begin his new role from 1 September 2018 and take over the management of the football club, the academy and The Moors Tavern. Wilson, 54, has a wealth of management experience from previous senior roles at Parker Hannifin; Spennymoor-based Thorn Lighting and Black and Decker. He is also Vice President of the British Compressed Air Society and a Director at the Employability Trust.
Wilson has been a key supporter of Spennymoor Town for many years and has forged a strong relationship with the club’s Chief Executive, Bradley Groves, as well as many of its operating officials. It is these relationships Wilson hopes will make the transition into the new structure a smooth one.
He said: “Spennymoor is a club full of great people and with great fans. Just look how many volunteered to clear snow from the pitch recently and made the mammoth journey down to Bromley in the FA Trophy.”
“Spennymoor has a great history and is gaining a reputation around the leagues of a club going places. I am really looking forward to continuing and enhancing the great work already underway.”
