Heybridge Swifts have forged an important partnership with Essex-based charity Springfield Road FC to host all their future fundraising games at Swifts’ Aspen Waite Arena.

As a fan-owned community club established in 1880, the Swifts believe that it is important to support worthy charities whenever possible.

The Swifts have many links with surrounding community, as the club has 20 junior and feeder teams who play on the Scraley Road pitches.

Chairman Gary White is delighted to make the association with Springfield Road FC, given its commitment to the Chelmsford-based CHESS charity for homeless people. White says the club is looking forward to helping with joint fundraising initiatives for a worthy cause.

White said: “I met prison officers Jamie and Paul from Springfield Road FC at the Swifts game at Witham Town last month and the lads made me aware of the fact that so many men in their custody at HM Prison Chelmsford become homeless soon after release and often re-offend because of the desperation that causes.

“I was really impressed with their commitment to this worthy cause and their determination to give their time and focus outside of their work.”
