St Ives have confirmed that assistant manager Jack Cassidy will step down from his role.

Cassidy has assisted manager Ricky Marheineke throughout his three-and-a-half year stint, during which they’ve gained promotion to Step Three via the Division One Central playoffs in 2016. And Cassidy confirmed in a statement that he was taking up a new role at Bedford Town.

“First of all a massive thank you to Ricky who gave me and opportunity to coach in senior football,” he said. “I’ve learnt a great deal and he will always remain a close friend.

“Thank you to the chairman [Gary Clarke] who’s been incredibly supportive, the staff, the board, supporters and the players for their effort during my time, we have enjoyed some great moments at the club and I’ve loved being a part of it.

“I leave to take up an opportunity with my home town club Bedford Town, and felt now was the right time for me to seek a new challenge.”
