Haverhill Rovers have confirmed their player-manager Marc Abbott will be leaving the club with immediate effect to become manager of St. Neots Town.

The Thurlow Nunn Premier Division club had the following to say:

Marc’s professionalism, positive attitude and approach to player development at the club has been fantastic and consequently his success has been recognised by other clubs, so it would only be a matter of time that he would be rewarded with an opportunity to continue all his good work at a higher level.

Haverhill Rovers F C are extremely proud as Marc was the first person internally which we identified as a potential manager years ago. As a result, it has been a pleasure watching Marc develop along his coaching journey from his FA Level 1 to his UEFA B and becoming the most sought-after manager in Step 5 football.

Marc has been associated with Haverhill Rovers F C for 14 years and has helped to build and achieve a strong foundation and development path to our youth system and a positive impact to our first team. Our departing mid-fielder happens to be our top goal scorer this season.

Although Marc is sadly off to pastures new, I’m sure everybody would like to congratulate him on his new appointment and wish him a successful future.

Whilst writing the club would like to take this opportunity to also thank Marc’s family, his extremely supportive wife Charley, and particularly his daughters Alexis and Liberty which everybody would often see on a Saturday afternoon fundraising.

Best of luck Marc from everybody at Haverhill Rovers F C
