Staines Town chairman Matthew Boon has announced the club is in the final stages of a takeover process, with manager Johnson Hippolyte also announcing he will be stepping away.
A statement from Boon was posted on the Bostik Premier side’s website, with one also from manager Johnson ‘Drax’ Hippolyte:
Message from the Chairman,
You will all know that over the past few weeks I have been seeking a new owner for the club with the view to a new and sustainable future.
I am pleased to advise that we are now in the final stages in completing this process, whilst not finalised they should be a formality in the next few days. Another press release will be issued soon outlining their plans and ideas, but I am confident that this decision is the correct one for the future of the club.
I will still remain at the club after this process as part of this deal to assist in every way that I can.
I have to advise Drax has decided to step down at the end of the season, whilst very disappointed I fully understand his reasoning. I would like to put on record by thanking Drax, his management and of course the team for their outstanding professionalism and hard work not only this season, but during his tenure and only wish him all the very best for the future.
We still have very important games remaining I have no doubt that the whole club will come together and see the season out with a successful season on record.
I would also thank the committee and all of the supporters who have been nothing but complimentary during this difficult time.
Below is Draxs statement,
“After long discussions with my family and management team I have decided not to wait and speak to the prospective new owners but have informed Matt that I will step down at the end of the season.
It goes without saying that we will leave no stone unturned in trying to make sure the team finishes in as high a position as possible.
I wish to tell the supporters they have been brilliant and thanks for their support.”
As mentioned above more statements will follow in due course and thank you all for your continued support.
Matthew Boon (Chairman)’
