Southport manager Steve Burr has signed midfielder Liam Hynes from National League North side Stalybridge Celtic.

Twenty-two-year-old Hynes started his career with the Everton academy and on his release joined Hallmark Security League side St Helens Town.

After a stint with Banbury Town, he joined Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division rivals Redditch United in 2011, scoring on his debut against Cambridge City.

Injury curtailed his appearances at Redditch, and getting back to fitness, he played in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League for Woodford United, Bugbrooke St Michaels and Daventry Town.

He returned north and joined Stalybridge in July, making six appearances.

Hynes will will be eligible for selection for tomorrow’s match against Solihull Moors.
