Staines Town have announced the appointment of Peter Stanford as their new director of football.

Stanford’s previous experience includes time as Sutton United’s head of recruitment, as well as academy scout at Brentford for three years. The club say Stanford will oversee the first team, Under-18s, and their ‘exciting academy project which will launch in September 2020,’ though will not manage the team.

He comes in with the team currently second-bottom of the BetVictor Isthmian League South Central Division, though with two games in hand on most of the sides in the league. Mahrez Bettache has been in interim charge following the departure of Anthony Gale, brought in back in the summer but suspended last month, and subsequently exiting a fortnight ago after an assault conviction.
