Corby Town have completed the signing of 6’5″ Torquay United central defender Oneil Odofin ahead of the 2016/17 Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division season.
20-year-old Odofin signed a one-year senior contract with Torquay in May 2015 after spending time as an Academy scholar. He made his first-team debut in 2014/15.
The tall centre-back had been tipped for big things at Plainmoor, although his contract expired after failing to break into Kevin Nicholson’s first team plans. He did gain first team experience on loan at both Bideford and Billericay Town last season however.
He also earned himself a trial at last season’s Sky Bet Championship winners Burnley.
Steelmen boss Tommy Wright told corbytownfc.co.uk; “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Oneil to the football club.
“He was close to securing a move to Burnley in January and clearly has great potential.
“I have spoken in depth with Aman Verma about him, as well as FA registered intermediary Jon Herrador.
“He is a player that I am really excited to have secured on a one-year deal and I look forward to helping him to continue his development at Steel Park.”
