Corby Town manager Tommy Wright has injected some extra pace and skill in to his squad ahead of this weekend’s fixture against Buxton with the signing of Shaquille Leachman-Whittingham from Evo-Stik NPL Division One South side Market Drayton Town.
Shaquille spent five years with the Walsall academy, earning himself a trial spell at Championship club Birmingham City.
Following his release from Walsall the youngster took the step up to senior football with Continental Star, where he netted 44 goals in 24 games at the age of just 16.
Leachman-Whittingham then joined Northern League side Tividale where he broke in to the first team at the back end of the 2014/15 campaign, before being rewarded for his impressive displays with a new contract for the following season.
Following the relegation of Tividale in 2015/16 Sqaquille departed the Dudley based club to join Market Drayton Town during the summer.
Wright told corbytownfc.co.uk; “I’m delighted to bring in a striker, who can also operate as a wide player.
“He’s very much in the mould of Femi Orenuga, a skilful and quick player who can provide us that spark in the final third.
“I am really excited to see him in a Corby shirt for the first time on Saturday.”
