Boreham Wood have announced that influential defender David Stephens has penned an extension to his current contract, thus keeping him at Meadow Park until the end of the 2017/18 season.
Stevo joined the Wood in October of last season and had a big say in us maintaining our National league status and he really hit the ground running in the summer being the Wood’s standout player throughout pre season.
Unfortunately an injury in the last few minutes of our opening day victory over FGR, kept him sidelined for a number of months. He has though recently returned to the side in tip top condition and, in truth looks better than ever.
Speaking about the contract extension Wood Gaffer Luke Garrard said “I know a lot of managers, boardrooms and agents, are looking everywhere in the transfer window to sign or offload players at the moment, as my phone is red hot.
“However myself and the Chairman have sat down, discussed things sensibly and he’s now aware of my targets.
“That said, we also want to get another four or five of our present crop of players over the line. The last thing we need is to lose the majority of what are a tremendous group of players suddenly in May.
“We may have to be patient, but a club like ours always has to be patient, if we want to build a good side and a competitive squad for the remainder of this season and of course for next season and we do” Garrard concluded.
