Bishop’s Stortford boss Kevin Watson has strengthened his forward line with a loan deal for Stevenage striker Dipo Akinyemi.
The 20-year joins the Blue Brazil on a deal which lasts until December 31st
After making two appearances as an unused substitute for Boro in the 2014-15 season, the London-born player signed professional terms with them in the summer of 2015, and made his debut by starting in the opening league game of the season, a 2-0 home defeat against Notts County. In his second start three days later, he played a vital role in helping Stevenage take the lead in a Football League Cup match against Championship high-flyers Ipswich Town. Boro would go on to lose the game 1-2.
Akinyemi would score his first professional goal the following weekend, with an equalising goal in a 2-2 draw at Newport County.
At the start of November 2015, Akinyemi joined National League side Aldershot Town on a month’s loan, scoring on his debut against Lincoln City, and making four league appearances in total during his stay.
Towards the end of March 2016, Akinyemi joined Isthmian League Premier Division side Dulwich Hamlet on loan for the remainder of the 2015-16 season. He scored on his debut for the Hamlet, registering their second goal in a 2-2 draw at Enfield Town, before going on to score both goals in his next game, a 2-1 home win against Tonbridge Angels, and scoring his fourth goal in three games in a 2-0 home win against Bognor Regis on 2 April 2016.
Ahead of the 2016-17 season, Akinyemi joined Conference South St Albans City on loan, foing on to make 21 appearances and scoring five goals in all competitions, before joining Isthmian League Premier Division side Billericay Town in December 2016 for a one-month loan spell, making seven appearances and scoring 1 goal all in the League during his spell at New Lodge.
At the start of January 2017, Akinyemi rejoined Dulwich Hamlet on loan for the remainder of the season, scoring the first goal of his second spell in a 2-0 win over Needham Market on 18 February 2017, and finishing his loan at the club with 10 goals in all competitions.
