Vanarama National League club Barnet have announced that John Still has retired from football management after over 40 years.

During this time, Still has won the National League title a record three times with Maidstone United, Luton Town and Dagenham & Redbridge, getting the latter further promoted to League One.

He was in his second spell managing Barnet having previously taken them to two League Two play-off positions in three years during his first spell at the turn of the millennium.

Still has overseen the re-shaping of the technical football side of the whole club during his second spell here and will remain with Barnet as head of football, allowing him to continue his progressive work in this area.

He will oversee Peter Gill, the academy manager; Luke Swindlehurst, the London Bees head coach and Darren Currie, who will continue in his role as first-team coach and take temporary charge of all first-team affairs.

Speculation will now grow linking Martin Allen with yet another return to The Hive after leaving league rivals Chesterfield earlier this week.
