Midfielder Tom Portas has agreed to join Stockton Town from West Auckland Town.
Portas is a Stockton lad and played junior football for the club before moving on to play Northern League football for Guisborough Town at 16. He then progressed to Whitby Town.
He spent four seasons at Darlington and was an integral part of their rise through the leagues to the National League North, winning three Player of the Year awards along the way.
Manager Michael Dunwell said: “This is a key signing for us this summer. Tom will bring experience and professionalism to the team and I believe his drive and determination will help move the team and squad on this summer”.
Portas said: “I already know most of the players within the squad and once I’d spoken with the club and understood their continued ambition I knew that this is where I wanted to be playing football.”
Portas will join up with the squad in late-June when the squad returns to training.
