Hereford have boosted their attacking options ahead of the National League North curtain-raiser on Saturday, bringing in former Barnsley, Weston and Boreham Wood striker Brad Ash.
“I’m really looking forward to getting started,” Ash told the official Hereford FC website, “I’ve been on trial at a couple of professional clubs but as soon as Hereford showed an interest I was really keen to get the deal done.”
Ash was an unnamed trialist during The Bulls’ most recent pre-season friendly against Aston Villa U23, getting around 55minutes under his belt.
“It was great to meet up with the players, to get to learn how we play and it was good to get some game-time under my belt. It was a good work-out against a good young Villa side.”
Ash was immediately impressed by the set-up at Edgar Street. “Some of the lads I know; Jacob Jagger Cane, Jason Pope, Tom Owen-Evans, they all told me that it’s a decent club and as soon as I arrived last week you can see what they mean.
“It’s a well-run club, really professional and very well supported, the ground is lovely – it’s a ‘proper’ football stadium, and the pitch was in great shape. I can’t wait to get going.”
“I’ve known Rico for a while and so he didn’t have to sell the club too much to me, but I’m really excited by his ideas and his ambition for the coming season. Everyone at the club wants to be challenging at the right end of the table and that really excites me.”
Looking ahead to the coming week, he is looking forward to what he describes as a ‘big week’. “We’ve got two training sessions to prepare for the weekend, I’m really looking forward to it, it’s a big week with the opening game on Saturday, hopefully, we can start with a nice positive result in front of a large crowd.”
Head Coach Marc Richards said: “It’s great to be able to strengthen our attacking options by bringing Brad on board.
“He gives us a different dynamic in the final third and again raises the competition for places.
“Brad has already proven himself in the league above with Boreham Wood and we are delighted to have secured his signature.”
