Merthyr Town boss Gavin Williams has added to his defensive options with the re-signing of 24-year-old Dan Summerfield.

Summerfield spent three seasons in the Martyrs from 2013 before leaving to study a degree at Birmingham University.

The right-sided player can play anywhere across the back four, and has represented the likes of Swansea City, Newport County, Halesowen and Stratford Town in his career.

He was also part of the team that won the Southern League South & West Division under former manager Steve Jenkins back in 2014.

Speaking on his return, Gavin Williams said: “It’s great to have Dan back at the club. We’ve had a lot of injuries this season defensively so to have Dan back is a great addition to the squad.

“Obviously to lose Lewis Binns early on the season and with Adam struggling we thought it was the right decision to bring another defensive player in.”
