Macclesfield Town boss John Askey believes that the fans will play a vital role in a promotion push this season.

The Silkmen boss is urging the Macclesfield Town fans to get behind the players as Macc enter the final 14 games of the 2016/17 campaign.

Askey believes that if the fans keep supporting and encourage the players and himself it could really help the team make that big push for the chance of promotion.  The Silkmen are currently sitting on the fringes of the top five, with games in hand on the side above them.

Speaking to Silkmen Player HD, the boss said that he is looking for the fans to give his side a boost.

He said: “I watched the St Etienne vs. Manchester United game last week and their fans never stopped supporting their players even though they were 4-0 down.

“That is the kind of support we’re looking for and hopefully everybody can get behind us in every game until the end of the season because we are in a great position at the minute.”
