Torquay United go into Saturday’s trip to Bromley looking to reach the 50-point mark and in doing so secure our National League status.

It’s just one defeat in our last four games for Kevin Nicholson’s side.1024px-Torquay United FC.svg1

“The only thing that matters is Bromley and getting the job done,” said the player-manager. “Character and attitude is so important in any player and I have a group of lads here who are willing to put themselves on the line for each other, something that will bring success over a period of time.

“We did our homework on the new players that we brought in during January and its now paying dividends for us.

“That said, as I keep saying, we’ve not achieved anything yet. This club has been on a downward spiral, but we’ve been working hard to ensure that we get ourselves on an upward spiral again.”

Bromley sit right in the middle of the table in this their first season at National League level. They are safe from relegation danger but also out of the race for the play-offs.

“Everyone out on that pitch on Saturday will have motivation,” stressed Nicholson. “Bromley may be mid-table but they will want to end the season with momentum; some of their players will be playing for new contracts and the manager will want to end on a high.

“So there is no such thing as nothing to play for. We have to make sure that we approach the game in the right frame of mind and do our job.”

Bromley’s trip to The Launa Windows Stadium back in September saw them run out 7-3 winners.
