Sutton Coldfield Town have been deducted a point for fielding an ineligible player.

The EVO-STIK League Premier Division club have been charged with a breach of FA Rule C1 (g) (x) in relation to loan player Matt Waters. The player participated in two fixtures when on loan from Chester FC when the loan paperwork had not been received by the FA, thus making him ineligible to play.

The two matches were:
v Nantwich ( A ) D 0-0
v Ashton ( A ) L 2-0

A fine of £100 has been imposed and the deduction of the point earned in the draw at Nantwich made. The club have decided to accept the ruling and will not appeal against the decision.

A statement from the Royals, who are currently bottom of the division, reads:

‘In a season where it has proved difficult to gain points, this is obviously a blow to our chances of avoiding relegation and has arisen simply because the correct paperwork was not received at the FA although it was received by the NPL and Chester FC at this time. However we are bound by the rules and must move on.

No further comment will be made by the Club and the matter is considered closed.’
