Heybridge Swifts chairman Gary White praised the club’s resilience in 2019 and hinted at exciting developments to come at the Aspen Waite Arena early in the new year.

To say it was an eventful 12 months for the Isthmian North heavyweights would be an understatement, with an ultimately fruitless play-off win and the appointment of its third new manager in a ten-month period.

But the team has remained highly competitive in a difficult Step 4 division since Karl Duguid succeeded Julian Dicks in the summer, and White, entering his fifth year as chairman, said: “It was an enjoyable year again with highs and lows.

“The high was the promotion over a 24-hour honeymoon period before being brought down to earth the next day.”
