Tamworth manager Andy Morrell caught up with Matt Panter of the Tamworth Herald after Saturday’s heavy home defeat to FC Halifax Town, and expressed his frustration with the result.
“I thought we started the game OK, being in their half and having a couple of half chances” said Morrell. “We spoke about game management and keeping the ball better, but when we do, we are wide open at the moment, and easy to counter against.”
The Lambs found themselves 2-0 early on following strikes from Morgan and ex Lamb Peniket inside the first 25 minutes. “We’re still in it at 2-0” Morrell said “We need to batten down the hatches a bit and get through the next 10 minutes, but we conceded 3 and 4 straight away and the game was gone.”
Morrell felt there was a slight improvement in the second half, and reserved praise for debutant Kai Davis, and U21 teammate Aaron Opoku, who scored his first senior goal. The Manager stated “I thought the two 21’s lads who came on did fantastically well.” He continued “It was because they had a reason to, they wanted to impress and do well, we’ve got to make sure the rest of the lads have that reason too!”
After the 6-2 reverse, The Lambs will have to wait until Saturday January 28th before getting the chance to chalk upmore National League North points, with Boston United the visitors to The GST Gas Services Stadium at The Lamb.
