Tamworth FC complete signing of England C defender
Tamworth FC have completed the signing of Nuneaton Town central defender Jack Lane.
The 23-year-old England C defender becomes the Lambs second signing of the week, following Brackley Town left-back Stephan Morley.
Tamworth assistant manager Mike Fowler said: “It’s a real coup for us, a great signing.
“Jack is a player with a great pedigree and fits the criteria of player we are looking to bring in.
“He’s very local, only 23 and yet has good experience, having played 36 times in a top-six side in the National North last season.
“I think taking a player off our big rivals is a big thing for us and he has the ability to be a great player for us next year.
“His desire to succeed is fantastic and we see him as someone we can work with, we can improve and he has got the potential to move on and play even higher.”
Fowler admitted the Lambs had been happy with their business so far.
As well as holding on to the majority of last season’s squad, they have brought in Lane, Morley and winger Greg Mills.
They have also reached an agreement with another midfielder and will now prioritise a forward, winger and number two goalkeeper.
“We have been really vigilant in terms of our recruitment,” said Fowler. “We have had targets for a while, a database of players.
“We wanted to be proactive rather than reactive in terms of our recruitment and I think we already have a very good nucleus of players.”
