Solihull Moors striker Adi Yussuf has been named in Tanzania’s preliminary 39-man squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
The tournament takes place in Egypt from 21st June to 19th July, with 24 teams competing.
Tanzania have been placed in Group C along with Senegal, Algeria and Kenya. The Taifa Stars will take part in their first AFCON since 1980 after beating Uganda to qualify in March.
Yussuf has been in sparkling form for the Moors this season, netting 21 goals in all competitions to help Tim Flowers’ side to a 2nd-place finish in the National League.
The 26-year-old has been called up to the squad previously but is yet to make his international debut.
On his call-up, he said: “This is a dream come true for me. I was born in Tanzania so for me to play where most of my family are from is amazing.
“Sometimes I pinch myself. The season has gone so well – all the hard work and sacrifices I have made have paid off.
“I just want to say a big thank you to all the people who believed in me. I can’t wait to fly out to the training camp.”
