North Ferriby United striker Tom Denton feels team spirit has taken the side to the National League.
Speaking after the Villagers 2-1 Vanarama National League North play-off final win over AFC Fylde Denton said “It is a great feeling, I thought we started slow but we deserved it, we took our chance when it came and then took it from there.”
Denton gained praise for holding the ball up and using his height to his advantage something he was happy about: “You have to do that when you are a lone striker it is a hard job at times but I really enjoy it and you get the reward of helping the team members out.”
Denton revealed his joy at the outcome of the season while also comparing it to their FA Trophy win of the last campaign.
“This is why you play football, for promotions and cup finals, this is actually the first time I have gone up as a player, we deserve now to enjoy all that comes with what we have done.”
“Both are great achievements but to me promotion is a bigger one because of what it means now for the new campaign.”
“We look forward to each game, there are some big teams involved for next season the likes of Lincoln, York but we will show everyone what we are made of.”
Denton finally talked about what he thinks drives the side on: “The spirit we have has been here for me since the 1st day, we’ve fought back at Wembley, we beat Boston last time when we were 2-0 down.
It is just a great squad and dressing room, the fans also played a part with the big turnout as well.”
