Shrewsbury Town manager Sam Ricketts confirmed today that young midfielder Ryan Barnett will see out the rest of the season at AFC Telford United

Barnett was recalled from AFC Telford to play in the Checkatrade game at Port Vale but the intention was for him to go back this week on a new extended loan.

When asked about his future at the club, this is what Ricketts had to say:

“Ryan has gone back to Telford now. It was important on Tuesday, I wanted to see him play. It was a good game for him to come back and play in.

“He’s gone back to Telford to finish the season there. He did well the other night, there’s interest in him from other clubs as well but we feel it’s right for him to go back to Telford and continue his development for the rest of the season.

“The most important thing is they need to be playing games, but then it’s also important that they are around the building as well. It’s good because Ryan can train with us for a few days but then he can get his matches at Telford.”
