Weymouth midfielder Jake McCarthy is thriving in his goalscoring form after his rocket against Dulwich Hamlet saw him fly to the top of the Terras’ charts.
Leading scorer McCarthy now has nine goals and five assists in 28 games this season, placing him above Abdulai Baggie who has eight strikes.
The former Bournemouth man has netted twice in two games after seeing a penalty saved against Havant on New Year’s day.
He told Echosport: “It was disappointing with Havant. It’s one of those things; if the keeper goes the right way he’s got a chance of saving it.
“But it was good to respond and goals are something I’ve wanted to add to my game. I’m up to nine now for the season, which is helping the team.
“Now we need to turn draws into wins and keep on going up the league.”
