Rushall Olympic manager Liam McDonald has agreed an extension to his deal at Dales Lane.
It gives the Southern League Central side a considerable boost in their preparations for the new campaign, as they look to maintain their place among the leading pack in 2021/22. The Pics were 5th in the table after 33 games of the 2019/20 season, and 4th when the 2020/21 campaign was cut short only eight games in.
“I am extremely pleased to agree this new deal with the club,” said McDonald, who has overseen fantastic progression since his appointment in October 2017. “It’s been a tough 12 months both on and off the pitch, but I wanted to sign this extension because my coaching staff and I are so happy here.”
“We’ve watched things grow and progress since the day we first set foot in the place. It feels very much my club and my home, and the family feel around the whole place is so special.
“We’re also extremely fortunate to have such a great facility here at Dales Lane. Attendances are on the increase and there is plenty to be positive about as we look to keep pushing on.
“I’m already well into the process of getting a competitive squad together for next season. We’ve been in and around the leading pack in each of the last two incomplete seasons and we want to keep punching above our weight and moving forward.”
The Pics’ vice-chairman Nick Allen added: “We are delighted that Liam is fully committed to continue the great progress he has made so far in his time here at Rushall Olympic. The gaffer sees Dales Lane as his home, which is gratifying to hear, especially through all the tough moments and stop-start nature of recent times.
“Liam understands the difficult financial landscape that we face as a club as competitive football moves towards a much-needed return. But we look forward to working together and backing him and his tremendous staff and players to continue working hard to deliver an entertaining brand of football that has the full and valued backing of our loyal supporters.
“Roll on the new season; we’re all looking forward to getting our Pics family back together.”
