Thatcham Town co-manager Gareth Thomas has resigned after discussions with club chairman Eric Bailey following the club’s Emirates FA Cup exit at Bracknell Town’s hands.

Long-serving defender Thomas was appointed before the start of Thatcham’s first season in Uhlsport Hellenic League football, and last season was joined at the helm by former Alresford Town boss Danny Robinson.

Together, they steered Town into runners-up spot in the league’s Premier Division and to two knock-out semi-finals. This season has seen two matches, both of which ended in defeat; 1-0 to Ardley United in the league and 3-2 to Bracknell in the Cup.

Robinson has been left in charge and will take the team to Tuffley Rovers in Tuesday night while Thomas has already been linked with a playing move with Marlow and AFC Totton showing interest.

Thatcham are also hoping to seal a 28-day loan deal for Hungerford Town goalkeeper Paul Strudley in time for the match.
