Kyle Wootton says Notts County will not give up the chase for the National League title despite Barrow now odds-on favourites to win automatic promotion to the Football League.

Barrow are 11 points clear of sixth-placed Notts and also have a game in hand having overcome another one of their pursuers in Bromley at the weekend.

Given the size of the gap, it looks a tall order for Neal Ardley’s side to catch the Bluebirds with the playoffs now looking their best hope of making a return to the EFL.

But 12-goal striker Wootton says Notts will keep on trying to put pressure on the Barrow in readiness to pounce on any slump by Ian Evatt’s side from now until the end of the season.

“We go game by game, but the aim is to be in the top seven,” said Wootton, who left his boyhood club Scunthorpe to sign for Notts until the end of the 2021-22 season.

“But if we keep going, winning games, taking three points, we could end up winning it.”
