Former Port Vale players Tom Pope and Gary Roberts are among the new signings at Congleton Town.

The NWCFL Premier Division club have also confirmed that striker Brian Barton, defenders Josh Beaumont and Mackenzie Faulkner, winger Dan Needham and midfielder Pete Williams have signed for next season.

Striker Pope joins after leaving Port Vale, for whom he had scored 115 goals across two spells.

He is joined at the club by midfielder and former Vale teammate Roberts, who was announced as leaving Chester at the end of last year.

The signings are undoubtedly a major coup for the Cheshire side, who are managed now by another ex-Vale man in former Wales defender Richard Duffy.
