Attacking midfielder Michael West has joined Tonbridge Angels on a month’s loan from National League South side Eastbourne Borough.
He made his debut in Saturday’s (1st December) 1-0 Bostik Premier win at Dorking Wanderers. West, 28, started his career as a trainee with Fulham before joining the Ebbsfleet United youth system.
He went on to sign his first contract with the club in January 2009, making his debut in a 1–0 win over Northwich Victoria in the Football Conference. In July 2012 he departed Stonebridge Road and joined League One side Crewe Alexandra.
Following a brief loan spell he rejoined Ebbsfleet in January 2014. A serious injury early in his second spell at Ebbsfleet meant that he didn’t play for a year but he scored as a substitute on his return in a 3–0 win over Whitehawk, scoring the third goal.
West played the second half of the 2015–2016 season on loan at Whitehawk, before signing permanently in east Brighton in July 2016 following his release from Ebbsfleet. In June 2017, he signed for Chelmsford City and then moved to his present club, Eastbourne Borough.
Angels boss Steve McKimm said: “Westie will provide me with experience and different attacking options as we enter Christmas and the New Year period. We need to up our goalscoring rate and I am looking forward to him contributing to that.”
