Manager Gary Johnson predicted that new signing Armani Little will prove a big hit this season after the former Southampton and Oxford United midfielder had scored a spectacular free-kick in Tuesday night’s 3-1 friendly win over League Two Plymouth Argyle at Plainmoor.
It was an early and rare mistake by Little, who enjoyed a successful season on loan at United’s National League South title rivals Woking last season, which led to Klaidi Lolos giving Argyle a fourth-minute lead in front of a bumper 3,382 crowd.
But only five minutes later Little equalised with a peach of a 25-yard free-kick in off the underside of the bar.
“He was determined to atone for that mistake, and there was no way that he was going to pass the ball or cross it,” said Johnson.
“We know that Armani has got that ability – he’s a great striker of a dead ball.
“He will be a big plus for us this season.”
