Torquay United have announced the loan signing of midfielder Connor Lemonheigh-Evans from Bristol City.

Lemonheigh-Evans, 21, returns to Plainmoor after a loan spell last season in which he appeared 15 times and scored one goal.

“I’ve seen a lot of him, obviously, I think it’s important at this stage that we’re at, where we’ve got to chase some leading teams, that when I bring in players I’ve got to know for sure what we’re bringing in,” said TUFC manager, Gary Johnson. “I know Connor well; I’ve seen lots of his games. He did very well when he was here before; a lot of the people that were here liked him.

“It was an obvious thing to bring in someone who’s a good footballer. He’ s a very, very good footballer. He did well at Conference level; you’d like to think he’ll do even better. He will be playing in a higher division [in the future] but it just so happens that after the deadline he hadn’t gone out, so we were here ready to give him 93 days of football.”

Lemonheigh-Evans is pleased to be back at Plainmoor to continue his football education.

“The first team Gaffer at my parent club just wanted me to play competitive football,” he said after training on Thursday. “There are three or four lads that were here last season and the Bristol City lads as well, so it’s going to be easy for me to blend in.”
