Torquay United’s owner-chairman Clarke Osborne has confirmed that the club is set to spend more money on their Seale Hayne training ground near Newton Abbot, even though the Gulls are looking for a new site for training and their relaunched Youth Academy.
Head coach Gary Owers hinted recently that more funds will be directed towards Seale Hayne, where a combination of wet winter weather and long-standing drainage problems have often prevented his squad from using it in recent months.
Now Osborne has followed up by saying: “We are looking to invest more in Seale Hayne, to bring the pitches into a usable condition and overcome the drainage problems.
“We also plan to upgrade the accommodation, so that it is suitable for a professional football club.”
