Torquay United midfielder Armani Little will have an operation next week in the hope that it will solve the hamstring problem that has blighted his season since joining the Gulls on a free transfer from Oxford United in the summer.

Little terrorised United when they played Woking in the FA Cup in November 2018, when he was on loan from Oxford, and that performance convinced Gulls manager Gary Johnson to sign him.

But twice Little has been forced to take a break this season because of a hamstring injury that won’t go away. He pulled up again early in the Vanarama National League win against FC Halifax Town on Saturday – after making a cracking start. He has since seen a specialist and Johnson has now revealed the 22-year-old will have an operation next week.
