Devon Live report the next round of Torquay United transfer signings will happen after this Saturday’s FA Cup third qualifying round tie at Brightlingsea Regent but before the Gulls resume their National League South campaign away to Eastbourne Borough next weekend.
And it looks as if the ‘one in-one out’ policy predicted by manager Gary Johnson is about to start.
Johnson has already told midfielder Chris Regis that he is welcome to try and find regular first-team football elsewhere, and at least one more member of the Gulls’ squad is expected to go out on loan before the Cup trip to Essex.
Johnson even says he is prepared to start the Brightlingsea tie with fewer than the permitted seven substitutes if it means that ‘out-loans’ help to make room for new arrivals.
Of Regis, Johnson said: “I don’t think I will be able to find a position for him over the next few weeks.
“So I have told him and his agent to try and find a club for himself in the next week or so. If not, then he will come back and train with us.”
