After a fantastic season that saw his goals spearhead Torquay United’s championship-winning campaign, Jamie Reid has been announced as the Vanarama National League South Player Of The Season.
Reid hit an amazing 32 goals (29 in the league), including a fine effort in United’s final-day win over St Albans on Saturday.
The award is the latest accolade to come the way of Torquay’s top scorer, and manager Gary Johnson feels it is just reward for the striker’s hard work.
“In my opinion there was no other candidate; to score 32 goals in a season, 29 in the league, is a fantastic return. He’s worked very hard at his game since I’ve been here, both mentally and physically, and has reaped his rewards.
“It’s great to hear the Torquay fans each week singing his name. I’m sure he’ll be the first to admit he couldn’t have done it on his own, therefore I’m sure he appreciates his teammates for their assistance in him picking up the award.”
