Torquay United’s experienced left-back Liam Davis is only days away from resuming full-contact training and he could make his playing comeback as early as next week.
Former Yeovil Town and Cheltenham Town player Davis, 32, who started all United’s 48 league and cup games last season, has been sidelined following abdominal surgery earlier this summer.
But manager Gary Johnson reported: “Liam is not too far away now. He’s recovered from his operation, and he’s very fit because he trained hard before he went in.
“There’s just a period of time that the specialist gave him to make sure everything had healed inside as well as outside, and he only has a few days to go before that’s up.
“We’re keeping to that plan, but Liam already looks fit and strong in the non-contact work he’s done in the last couple of weeks.”
