Player Of The Year Luke Young is poised to leave Torquay United after four years at Plainmoor – and it is not just because the Gulls have been relegated to the Vanarama National League South.
The former Plymouth Argyle midfielder has already told United head coach Gary Owers that he is likely to turn down the new contract which Owers has offered him.
“After the last couple of seasons, I think I owe it to myself to take a chance and see if I can maybe get back into the Football League or a top-end ‘Conference’ team,” said Young, 25. “It’s not because we have been relegated – even if we had stayed up, this decision would not have been any different.”
Young has already been linked with League Two Yeovil Town, although several other EFL and National League teams are believed to be interested.
