Enfield Town fans are backing a crowdfunding campaign by their Ryman Premier club’s disability side to buy new kits and training gear.
The online campaign on justgiving.com by the staff and players of Enfield Town Disability Football Club has already passed an initial target of £500 with £527 donated by Wednesday night after one generous supporter pledged £100.
Set up nearly five years ago and sponsored for the first time this season, the Towners side lifted the Special Olympics GB North London Trophy in 2012. Last season they were runners-up at the 2015 Gladbecks Tournament and also took third place in the 2015 Middlesex Pan Disability League County Cup.
The Towners are targeting more success this season and manager Shane Tant urged fans to get behind them on Facebook, posting: “The Enfield Town Disability Football Team are looking to raise funds to get new kits, training equipment and if possible, new training wear, so all donations will help. They are ready to bring some silverware home this season, so lets get behind them and support them all the way.”
