Tranmere Rovers have announced that Southport forward Louis Almond has signed a deal to join the Vanarama National League club until the end of the 2017/18 season for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old began his career with Blackpool and made two appearances for the Seasiders.
Whilst at Bloomfield Road, he enjoyed loan spells at Cheltenham Town, Barrow AFC, Lincoln City and Hyde United before joining the latter on a permanent basis in August 2014 after release by Blackpool.
After leaving Hyde, he moved to Southport and during the 2015/16 season, Almond scored 12 goals from forty-two appearances.
This season, he has started for the Sandgrounders eight times and netted three times, including one goal against Rovers at the end of August.
Interim manager Paul Carden said: “Louis is someone I know well having worked with him before and I know what he can offer the team.
“He is a clever player who is different to the other attacking players who are already at the club.
“He’s at a good age and has had a good start to the season with Southport.
“Other clubs in this division and the one above were interested in him but he wants to come here and be a part of what the Club is looking to achieve”.
