Former Spalding United boss Dave Frecklington has been appointed as new manager of Vanarama National League North club Gainsborough Trinity.
Frecklington was appointed as Tulips boss in May 2016, returning to the club he represented during his playing career in the late-1990s.
However he brought his stay at the Evo-Stik NPL First Division South club to an end over the weekend in order to accept the role as Trinity manager.
He leaves the Tulips in second place in the table as they target a promotion to the Evo-Stik NPL’s top flight.
He joins Trinity with the club just one point above the National League North relegation zone.
His first game in charge will be the first part of a home double header when they welcome Gloucester City to the Martin & Co Arena. Three days later they face another home game, this time against mid-table Curzon Ashton.
Trinity announced the appointment in a statement on their website on Monday evening.
They said “Gainsborough Trinity are delighted to announce Dave Frecklington as the new manager, following the resignation of Dominic Roma on Sunday 5th February. The appointment follows a thorough short listing process and a round of successful and productive interviews from a pool of over thirty high quality candidates.
Frecklington, who has previous managerial experience at Lincoln United and more recently Spalding United, is an up and coming manager looking to impress and test himself at a higher level. He comes to the club with an impressive list of contacts and has assembled sides challenging at the top end of the Northern Premier League, playing an attractive brand of football.”
