Truro City have signed New Zealand defender Erik Panzer.

He grew up in Nelson, New Zealand and spent his younger years playing at different clubs Truro-city-football-clubthroughout the region, including Waimea Plains, Mapua, Richmond and then Nelson Suburbs.




He debuted for Nelson Suburbs in the Mainland Premier League at the age of 16, making a total of fifty-six appearances.

In 2012, Panzer advanced into the Canterbury United national league team, competing in the ASB Premiership, and a year later he appeared in the inaugural game for Nelson Marlborough Falcons in the National Youth League.

In August 2012, Panzer accepted a scholarship to Quinnipiac University, Connecticut in the United States.

The Quinnipiac Bobcats compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference at the NCAA Division One level.

Panzer made a total of seventy-one appearances, including seventy starts for the Bobcats, helping keep twenty-seven clean sheets.

Quinnipiac won three championships in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and also won the MAAC Conference Championship in 2013 and appeared in the NCAA National Tournament that year.

Upon graduation from Quinnipiac University, Panzer went to Ireland and trained full-time for two months with League of Ireland Premier Division side Derry City.

He first began on a two-week trial, however his trial extended into full-time training with the team, although he was not offered a contract.

Since then, he has travelled to Plymouth looking for a new opportunity and has been signed by the White Tigers, who now await international clearance.
