Truro City boss Lee Hodges has backed the club’s first new signing of the summer – striker Jared Lewington – to prove a big hit at Treyew Road.
The 24-year-old has agreed to join City from Southern League Premier Division side Tiverton Town on a one-year deal, with the option of a second year. The arrival of the talented forward is a welcome boost for City ahead of their new National South campaign, especially after the departure of the out-of-contract Rocky Neal to Taunton Town and with uncertainty over the future of last season’s joint top scorer Cody Cooke.
Hodges, who along with assistant Chris Todd signed a new two-year deal on Saturday, was delighted to have acquired the services of Lewington, who only joined Tiverton from Western League side Buckland Athletic in January.
“We tried to get him last season, but he felt the time was not right,” said Hodges. “We have had a lot of positive reports about him and I am looking forward to working with him.
“He is physically strong, has good movement, and is a bigger version of Rocky. He never stops running.”
