On Tuesday night West Didsbury & Chorlton host Barnoldswick Town at Brookburn Road, and will be visited by the next generation of football’s business leaders.
Undergraduate football business students from UCFB will be in attendance for Tuesday’s game to carry out a fan engagement questionnaire amongst West supporters, to better understand the ever increasing appeal of non-league football.
Based in the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, Turf Moor in Burnley and Wembley Stadium in London, The University College Football Business’s vision is: ‘To be the world’s leading neurological centre of excellence for football business education.’ Their mission is ‘to provide best-in-class graduates with football and business expertise.’
At the game on Tuesday, the students will be looking at the route people take to becoming supporters, which methods of communication from the club they find most useful and how they successfully communicate with the club themselves.
Another group will look at the potential for future supporter engagement of online and e-ticketing, an emerging element of the matchday experience in the professional game, and if the technology required is cost effective enough.
In addition, a third group, who are also supporters of non-league football, are working in conjunction with the Non League Paper to develop an app for live score updates.
The students will be led by Simon Mitton, a senior lecturer in sports business at the UCFB’s Etihad Campus based at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
