Port Vale boss Neil Aspin says he is allowing Brendon Daniels to join Altrincham on loan so he can try to force his way into first-team plans at Vale Park.

The 24 year old forward played for Altrincham in their 1-2 defeat at home to Salford on Saturday ahead of a proposed one-month loan deal.

Daniels, from Smallthorne, signed a six-month deal with Vale this summer after signing on a free from Alfreton, but hasn’t forced his way into contention for the first team.

Aspin said: “Brendon had an opportunity coming to this club where you have to take that opportunity. He didn’t do himself any favours by…he didn’t work hard enough before he came to the club so he was behind a lot of the players in terms of fitness.

“Now he has worked a lot harder and now he has got himself into a position where he is fitter. But because he wasn’t going to start in the team, I felt it was better to maintain his fitness, that he went out and played some games.”
